Compare dog supplement labels with clearer questions

The Dog Supplement Label Checklist helps you organize the details that matter before discussing a product with your veterinarian: active ingredients, disclosed amounts, serving directions, warnings, inactive ingredients, storage, expiration, manufacturer information, and claims that need context.

What the checklist helps you review

  • Product purpose and the specific goal you are trying to evaluate.
  • Active ingredients and the amount provided per serving.
  • Weight-based directions, age guidance, and practical serving details.
  • Inactive ingredients, flavors, fillers, preservatives, and sweeteners.
  • Warnings, medication cautions, storage, lot, and expiration information.
  • Manufacturer contact details and questions about quality documentation.
  • Marketing claims that should be separated from verified label facts.

A checklist supports the conversation; it does not make the decision

A clear label does not prove that a supplement is safe, effective, necessary, or appropriate for your dog. Puppies, senior dogs, pregnant or nursing dogs, dogs with health conditions, dogs taking medication, and dogs with ongoing symptoms need individualized veterinary guidance before starting a supplement.

If your dog is sick, injured, rapidly worsening, or showing urgent warning signs, contact a veterinarian instead of waiting for an email or using a checklist.
